Festivals are optional, seasonal events in which The Alchemist can participate. Each of the four seasons has its own distinct festival, and all Villagers attend, providing a key opportunity to increase Friendship points. 
Magic Man is an exception and will only join the festivals once The Rift is closed. Some unique Decorations can only be obtained by participating in Festivals and depend on having a good or the best performance. Rewards will appear inside the Community Chest in the General Store the day after the Festival. One Spirit is also exclusive to a Festival.
Springtime Spirit Festival
The Springtime Spirit Festival takes place on 
Spring 21st at 20:00 at the Hot Spring. After discovering that an Ancient Spirit inhabits the hot spring, a festival is organized to give offerings to it. The Alchemist can choose one of the Villagers to give an Item as an offering, receiving some Friendship points. The "Spirit of the Spring" will react differently depending on the item offered.

ALCHEMIST! IT'S ZED! SOMETHING INCREDIBLE TURNED UP IN MY RESEARCH!
Oh, sorry, I had my fountain pen on caps lock. Cleo and I just unearthed some ancient texts that speak about a Great Spirit that lives in the hot spring, and I desperately need your help to dig further! Apparently, the people of the Old Kingdom used to give offerings to this "Spirit of the Spring" and sometimes received blessings in return.
I thought it might be nice to have a festival to try it out for ourselves! I promise it'll be fun and not just a boring sciencey research time. Bring an offering -- something valuable, ideally!

The Springtime Spirit Festival Time (that's what I've been calling it, anyway) is almost here again! We'll be meeting at the hot spring just like last time, and we're all bringing gifts for the Great Spirit. I'm not sure that it liked my gift last year, so I'm going to try something different this time. It's like a multi-year experiment! Yay!

Summer Spirit Festival
The Summer Spirit Festival takes place on 
Summer 21st at 20:00 at the Beach. The Festival is a gathering to witness the annual Spirit Migration that occurs during a meteor shower. The Alchemist can choose one of the Villagers to watch with, receiving some Friendship points. During the Festival, every big star with a halo that The Alchemist reacts to will be rewarded with 1 
Moonstone and will continue untill all Spirit species seen so far parade in front of the moon. Participation will prompt Zed to invent the 
Recycler.

Alchemist! I have amazing news!
I was feeling so inspired after seeing the Meteor Shower that I stayed up ALL NIGHT inventing stuff. Most of it was bad, like a toothbrush mitten so you could clean your teeth with your hands... but I did invent one really useful thing, so I thought I'd send the blueprints to you. It's a recycler! You can use it to break crafted items down into their component materials! Yay, recycling!!!

Cooking Festival
The Cooking Festival takes place on 
Fall 21st at 20:00 at the Town Square. The famous food critic 
Zafaran requests the Moonstone Island's Villagers to show her the local cuisine. The Alchemist can bring a Cooked meal to compete with the other Villagers. Zafaran will judge and react differently depending on the meal submitted.
